Hi my name is Asher and I’m 11 years old. I got this for my birthday so here is my review. First of all,the set is great. It has five, cool mini figures (and a black horse with red eyes). Three of them are exclusive to this set. They are Mouth of Sauron, Aragorn with armor and a cape, and Gandalf the White. It also comes with two Mordor Orcs. They aren’t as cool as Uruk Hai, but, there cool enough. The gate itself is cool. It has a feature where you can lock the gate. The texture on the outside of the gate is neat and like the movie although there is what looks like door handles on the outside (don’t know why). The top of the gate is littered with stuff like skulls, torches, and a bottle (?). There are spikes all over the wall and that gives it a darker feel. There is not as much space to pose and play with mini figures but you can remove them. The tower has a secret door. The tower and rocks can detach the rocks and tower so you can rearrange them. You could also attach this to lego 9474 Helms Deep and sets that use the same connecting system. Quite a lot, I try to detach the tower and it brakes but is easy to fix. On the second floor of the tower, there's nothing special just ammo for a catapult. On the top, there is a small catapult that you can detach and put on the ground but there’s not a lot of room to put a mini figure up there and pose it load the catapult or something. the spikes on the top are really cool. It could be a bit bigger and have two towers to make it be more like the movie, but you can buy two and connect them to make it bigger. It is still a decent size and really cool on its own. So that was my review and I hope it was helpful!Once built, I have to say, this is really a great looking set. It's smallish in fact the Lego booklets even encourage buying additional sets to make it larger, which is kind of redundant if you ask me, but it's almost comparable to the Helms Deep set which is twice as large. The design however is awesome with the black color pattern and the intricate series of spikes. My real gripe with the set however, is that it's very fragile, and can be very flimsy when trying to put together. The instructions require you to attach the gates onto the main platform, before the gates are fully built. This makes pressing down on the pieces to attach them very a very delicate task. Several times when building, for me, that gate portion completely fell apart as I was trying to attach a certain piece. It was very frustrating. Even when fully built, the model is still a bit wobbly, and doesn't feel like it's completely solid. This is very disappointing, because, like said, it's a really cool looking set.As for the minifig selection, you get a good group, but not as big as you'd expect for a set this size. The inclusion of two animals, a horse and an eagle, is most likely the reason for this. But we get Gandalf in his White incarnation finally, and Aragorn in slightly more kingly attire (the other sets make him so scruffy you'd almost think he was one of the villains). Then finally, the very obscure character The Mouth of Sauron. Because his part was cut from the Jackson movie (tho I believe it's included in the special editions). You might think he's a Nazgul, but he's not. Just a mortal warrior who speaks for Sauron. He's really a great looking figure, with a menacing, Joker-like grin.In all. Not the best of the Lego LOTR sets. It's fragility sets it back a point for me. Spend your money on Helms Deep or The Mines of Moria first. However, it is an inspired set, with an intricate and great looking design.I like this set, but I would have paid 20-30 dollars more for double the wall with the Minifigs. That is the most disappointing part in this set, other than that, it is a fun set, and an easy build for the younger fans. Let's get down to the pros and cons.Pros:-Great detail, Lego is getting better and better on this point-Cool play features that you wouldn't expect from this set for the younger ones-Awesome Minifigs, 3 exclusives that almost make this set worth buying just for them-Gandalf the White, the only set with this Minifig-Mouth of Sauron and the details on his helmet-Aragorn in his Gondor Armour-Locking features on the back of the gate-Walkway and catapult at the top of the gateCons:-The size of the gate, that is my only qualm with this set, if they had included another half of the gate, and a price point at around 80-90 dollars, it would make this set more worth the price point. To wrap up this review, this set includes 5 Minifigs, Gandalf the White, Aragorn in Gondor Armour, The Mouth of Sauron, and 2 Mordor Orcs. Also, this set includes an Eagle, which is a cool feature if you plan on recreating a scene. This set is a fun build with a couple unique pieces and Minifigs to this set. Great for all ages and really only one major con, which is the size of the set, but the exclusive Minifigs are worth the price point.Although my order was flawed, their customer service team is AMAZING and helped me sort out my issue with ease. I believe the flaw was a one time mistake. That being said, I would definitely consider buying from them in the future.Slightly overpriced at $75 at the time of my purchase. That's what you get for buying a retired Lego set though.Mini figures are FANTASTIC King Aragorn, Gandalf the White, and The Mouth of Sauron are exclusive to this set and are amazingly detailed. The orcs are nice, not special, but nice. The horse and Eagle are also good additions that make me far less bothered about the price. The set itself is somewhat small and somewhat fragile but any regular user should have a problem with that. I agree the set's play value is greatly increased with other sets. It is a gate after all, not a building.Parts are most black and dark grey, as you can see. Lots of black "cheese-wedge" pieces that are great for MOCs.Exactly what she wanted!A smooth transaction. Product as advertised. A-1 seller. Thank you. Johnwow! awesome pieceMy son loved it.
