I bought this for my 3 year old after looking for a good fun train set he could grow with, I settled on this one. I am so glad I did!! We got it a few weeks ago but my son just opened it today for his birthday and he is in love! it is the cutest set, easy to put together and easy for my 3 year old to operate. It is fun and colorful and I LOVE the crane and how interactive it is. This was very well thought out and designed for kids. I can see my son playing with this for many year and getting additional sets to add to it. HIGHLY recommended! I should have bought it a year or so ago.Love this set! The accessories that come with this set are awesome, very interactive. There's a loading station that dumps cargo into the train, a crane to lift it out, a dump truck and gas station. With other sets we've just used the track and train cars and tossed the other stuff in the misc lego bin. Everything in this set is getting played with. My 4.5 y/o follows the instructions and pretty much sets everything up on his own now. Makes his own creations too of course. The instruction book that comes with 'Lego Duplo 10506 Train Accessory Set Track System' shows a bunch of cool track configurations you can make with both this (10508) and that (10506) set. My 2 y/o is able to connect the tracks together too and runs his hot wheels along them pretty contentedly.Such a cool toy and it matches up well to the Lego Duplo train game app. It would be nice to have some more track so there was more flexibility to build different tracks though. My son loves filling up the fuel and loading and unloading with the crane.Bought as a Christmas present. Fantastic - kids just loved it, it kept them quiet for hours! The train chugs around the track and makes 'tooting' noises - the batteries last a long, long time, which was a relief! Highly recommended, this toy is brightly colored and robust, a joy! This was fantastic, REALLY. We've had so much family time with this train set. We have two smaller duplo lego tracks and it works great together. Everything is built really well, my husband is normally disappointed by the quality and engineering of things these days, he was totally impressed with this set. Highly suggest and totally worth the money.excellent train set with very sturdy pieces. I've purchased a couple of train set before but I must say the quality and thought put in this train set really surpassed my expectations. my 3 year old loves it!Update in 2018:Set still going strong and outlasted 2 boys. This is probably the best duplo set Ive come across and highly recommend it! would give it more stars if possibleThis is a great train set! My son is now 2.5 years old, and I have purchased several lego sets for him, and this train set is his favorite. He got the train set last week, and he wants to play with it every day. The train and the tracks have pretty good quality.this was a bit difficult to put together, we ended up with 1 extra track piece? but it is fun to play with, the kids really enjoy it - ages 4 and 6. I numbered them on the back so it is easy to reassemble. We have the original Lego duplo train set, which we have had for thirty years and still works fine. I bought this as an add on for the grandchildren and myself. The two are compatible, the new track has got ridges so that the train can grip and climb the bridge. The old track is black and the new track is grey. The battery trains are great, which were not available with the original duplo set, and we love the sound effects. The petrol nozzel fits into the train and there is a good glugging noise and when the train is turned off there is a gentle screeching of brakes. They have to be picked up with care as they falls to pieces very easily. I do think it falls down on the fact that pieces do not fit as snuggly as the original and I had to use super glue in the supports on the bridge as it kept collapsing and causing frustration. Also the bridge has a join in the middle of the span that is prone to collapsing. I am no structural engineer, but this seems a poor design feature, which was not so on the original bridges. I had to super glue the petrol pump in place too, as it looked very silly waving in the air as it kept popping off its block.Having said that, I'm sure it will give even more hours of fun and I don't regret the purchase. Not cheap in my view but my son loved this for his birthday, absolutely loved it. So glad I bought it, although I would recommend getting an expansion pack if you can to offer a few more track options.Word of warning, the standard Duplo trains & trucks will not work on this track because their wheels are too wide. This is without doubt the best trainset I have come across, it is robust enough for my 2 yr old to play with. There are so many different ways to set up the track and buildings and is compatible with all duplo so there endless ways to play with it. The trains make great noises when they are switched on and even when you put fuel in them. They also work fine on the floor without the track.Very good. My 2.5 year old wee boy adores it. However it can be a little frustrating as the bridge falls down easily and the crates fall off the carriages easily. I wouldn't let this put you off buying it, but just be prepared for small frustrations (from toddler and parents!)
