Lego Batman: The Videogame (Xbox 360) – “The Dark Knight (of blocks)”This video game is a lot of fun. As with all the other Lego games it follows right along with its traditional ease of use, speedy respawns, and simple puzzle builds. In fact this game is even more fun when you add an additional controller and another player. The Co-op features of this game are simply amazing. To join simply pickup of your second controller, press the start button, and you’re in. Jumping out of your seat is just as easy and can be done by either player by bringing up the start menu and then selecting “Drop Out”. This is a wonderful feature that promotes co-op play. In many games (especially on co-console play) if your co-op member decides to quit then that usually requires dropping out of the current level. Not here. It’s easy-in / easy-out.The Batman / Robin storyline is broken up into three segments, each featuring a gang of super villains to take down. The first group is lead by the Riddler and ultimately leads to his island fortress. The second gang is headed by the Penguin and builds up to the assault of his watery hideout. Finally you’ll make you way through the third episode to the Joker’s bell tower retreat to face off against Harley Quinn and the rest of his cronies. The length of the content was rather satisfying. This game could easily be knocked out in six simple sessions (two per each of the three chapters) though it would not be hard to beat the game one chapter at a time, a session for each. When I mention that you can “beat” the game I simply mean go through the campaign for the dark knight and the boy wonder. Alas once you finish those segments you will only be about 20% the way through the game. Next you are off to Arkham Asylum to break-out and go back to play through the sequences as each of the super-villain along with there appropriate evil-sidekicks for each level. The levels will be completely different as you are now playing as the villains. This game is impressively long and packed with plenty of content. To be perfectly honest I never even checked to see if there was any DLC for it as the desire for additional content is completely non-existent. The game has plenty of content to keep two people busy and on their toes for hours on end.The cut scenes definitely lay out the story well enough to comprehend and enjoy from a slight immersive standpoint, even though there is a degree of repetition found within the game play. Lego’s don’t really speak after all (they just grunt and emote). With that in mind the story game is still really neat. The vehicle sequences are rather fun. Three different levels in the game are built completely around vehicles. What would a batman game be without the Bat-Car, the Bat-Boat, and the Bat-Wing? (Something Nintendo came up with perhaps) Of course Robin gets his own line of vehicles as well to complement the Dark Knight’s war machines. In conclusion I have no way to understand why I enjoy playing this line of games. Perhaps I enjoy the easy-in/easy-out features of the multiplayer functions. Or maybe I’m just very interested in the content (Batman & Star Wars & such). One thing is for sure though; this is defiantly a great game for kids to play. With good action, very light drama, and an easy control interface all parent should consider getting these Lego series of games for their children. Gosh, I think the adults would have just as much fun playing it too. This rendition of Batman is defiantly worth the purchase. This game also came with Pure which I've played a few times. It's pretty fun. Gets a bit intense and keeps you on the edge of your seat.I bought this game because I was looking for something to play with my 4 year old. With winter coming and us staying inside a lot I am always looking for something that I can do with her inside on days we can't play outside. Most of the games that I play are too difficult for her to play. The Batman Lego game is a good introduction game for her to video games. We can play together and it's not too complicated for her. In games like this you have a joystick that moves the character and one that is for looking and moves around what you view. On most games the sensitivity is set up to be too sensitive for a young child to use the look around with the joystick. On this game it's not, so she can focus on running around. She has really picked up on what some of the buttons do and because on the XBox some of the crucial buttons on the Xbox are colored...I can just say hit the red, blue, yellow or green button when she gets stuck. She does get stuck from time to time and doesn't understand sometimes the objective of what we are trying to do but she is learning...and that was what I was wanting to get out of this game. Something to teach her and help her advance. You can play in 2 player mode with both of you sharing the same screen. One player is Batman the other is Robin. In 1 player mode...the player can shift back and forth from Batman to Robin or vice versa with a hit of a button. The negative for this game is...well, I am use to more advance 1st person shooter type games and games such as Madden which can get very complicated. So for me, Batman Lego can get boring to play from time to time. She loves it! The good thing is that if we are playing together on the same screen and I can drop out of it at any time...go do some dishes..come back and re join her without starting and stopping the game over.I bought this game bundled with a game called Pure. Pure is a lil' too much for her right now. It's an off road racing game and it's just beyond her ability at the moment but hey...it was cheap bundled together and maybe down the road it will be something we can do together.Say what you want about video games but I think there are some positives to playing the games. As with anything...too much of something can be bad.My 4 year old loves this game. I plan on getting more Lego games down the road. It's a good introductory game for your kid to video games. You get a Batman & Robin beat em up game that has some problem solving along with a very fun stunt racer game.If your a Batman fan that enjoyed Arkham asylum dont expect the same game but expect a batman experience nonetheless. He has the abilities & gadgets but its more used when the game allows you to use them. So if he has to reach a higher distance theres specific spots for the grapple gun Or he has to soar to reach over big gaps he uses the glider suit they give you in that area. Both Robin & Batman have these special suits that give them abilities. You have to work both characters to advance the game.Pure is a fun trick racer with 3 modes that make for a variety.Freestyle - Most points off tricksSprint - Small race track for quick racesRace - Long racesBoth great combo that provide 2 different experiencesThis is the best deal I've found for 2 new(er) games in a bundle. It's great for those that bought the XBOX 360 before the current bundle came out (I got mine with Kung Fu Panda and Lego Indiana Jones). PURE is tons of fun! I love race games, and this one is absolutely great. The races are challenging, and the online system is easy to get onto. There are some pretty good players out there online, so it's also very challenging. My kids (14,12,9) love the LEGO Batman game. There are not too many games out there that a parent can feel good about these days. These are 2 of the best. Highly recommend both of them and at this price, you can't beat it.It works perfectly and now me and my nephew love playing the game .Wonderful conditionSon loves this game, even his dad and I do
