This was a great gift for my kids. Unfortunately they both said it was kind of a boring build, and they didn't really play with it all that much either.Unless you need this for some set completion, I recommend buying something else. The price has gotten out of hand. I wouldn't recommend paying more than thirty bucks for this, and even that's more than we paid.A good rule of thumb for Lego sets without a lot of minifigures and specially cast large pieces is ten to fifteen cents per piece.Amazon's transaction and competitive price were excellent. The product itself was a birthday gift for a granddaughter and, like just about anything plastic that a kid under 20 wants, was absurdly overpriced and of little substance. The shtick is the packaging, the graphics, and the memory of the movie.Once the association of the movie fades and the toy is perceived by itself - naked, small and isolated from the box - there's not much to it. It instead becomes an indecently expensive aggregate of multicolored plastic forms with no independent value... but such is the American way, right? Make stuff cheap and charge as much as you can for it.This is what we teach our children through toys like this - treasure not thought or philosophy, but junk... cheap stuff made by factories in China... and invest your hopes and dreams and fantasies in getting more cheap stuff... how's that for a demoralizing rant, eh? I know it's not what you expected in looking for a toy review, but really - why are we, as a society that could dedicate its energy to making the earth better for everyone, instead wasting time and resources making pointless crap that benefits no one except those businesses and capitalists (the corrupted type, not those who actually contribute value back to society) who really don't need more. The toy and the system that produced it are ultimately unsatisfying illusions. My daughter is 8 years old and requested this item. I didn't supervise her putting it together and she made a few mistakes in the beginning and then got stuck half way through. This meant we had to take it all apart and start over. With supervision initially, she was able to most of it on her own. It was a great project.....she really had to follow directions. Now that it's together, she plays with it. Think of it as a model that you put together and then keep it as is. I can't picture her taking it all apart and putting it back together. This was a birthday gift for my 9 year old son. He loves Lego's and also Harry Potter. His 12 year old brother wanted to put it together first and the 6 year old plays with it too, so it's been fun for everyone! I gave it 4 stars because one section kept falling apart and the boys complained that it wouldn't stay together, but they kept working with it and it looked good when I saw it. I'm glad to have a toy that they enjoy, they have to use some skill with, and aren't in front of a screen!!!Lego's have always been part of my life from when I was a child, and now my children love them also. And we also enjoy watching Harry Potter movies together. So this one was a perfect gift that I got them and we were able to have fun together building the Bus. As the description notes it is made for older children, so keep that in mind, you do not want to have smaller children playing with the set.But for older kids, it is perfect. Nice details and fun to put together, not too difficult at all but enough pieces to make it entertaining to build. As with all LEGO products the quality is very good. The details to the bus and the features are very close to the actual bus from the movie. If you like Harry Potter this is a great addition to the collection. The colors and details are very good. As with all LEGO products, I feel it is a bit overpriced for what it is. It is what you would expect from LEGO.My 7 year old grandson enjoyed putting this together. It plays well and is such an iconic piece to add to a HP collection. This was one of the things my son really wanted for his birthday. He's 9 years old, and an huge Lego fan, and a HP fan as well (though not as big a fan as mom!). He loved this, and he really didn't have any trouble putting it together. It is fun for him to play with, and the little details (such as the shrunken head, and the trunk, as well as the swinging chandelier) are wonderful! I think this is a great addition to anyone's collection of Legos.I thought $123.00 way too expensive for the size of product. I would normally never pay that but it's a gift from Santa so my hands were tied. as the provider knows as it's not available in stores
